MAYA FAMILY *****CLASS ASSIGNMENT

The Mayan family all lived together. The men farmed and hunted. The women would cook and weave. The children helped out their mothers with the chores and only went to school if they came from a noble family. http://library.thinkquest.org/J0112511/mayalife.htm
It is interesting to see that in ancient times had been a culture of respect for parents and respect for older people, but it's more important to recognize nowadays in all traditions are kept in the family Mayan for example:An infant’s integration into the family unit is further established by an extended in-arms phase in which he or she is almost continuously being held or carried by the mother or an older sibling for at least the first year after birth. This extraordinary care provided for the youngest members of the Maya family is mirrored by a profound respect and attention for the oldest members of the family. The grandparents and great grandparents of a Maya family are its most revered members.http://www.stetson.edu/~rsitler/CV/kuch.doc.
